The Roosevelt Room has been a fine-dining restaurant in East Greenbush, NY, since July 2023. Just like the restaurant, its dishes are classic and elegant; well-known, and yet there are still unique aspects to each dish served.
Beginning with an appetizer, the blue-point oysters. Right off the bat, the waitress lets me know where, Long Island, and what this dish is in detail. The oysters are served over crushed ice, preserving the freshness of the meat inside. The taste of the creamy oyster can be cut with the pickled-vinegar acidity or the option to indulge in a fresh tomato sauce.
After your palate is neutralized, the hardest decision presents itself: What should you get as your entree? Not to worry, The Roosevelt Room has a dish for every craving you have. Their light-up, gold-lined menus offer a variety of choices. From fish, seafood, chicken, pork, veal, lamb, steak, and even kangaroo, the options are endless. Sometimes, the decision is too demanding and you have to get at least two dishes…
For my visit, I tried the Faroe Island Salmon. The salmon is surrounded by colorful flavors and vegetables. The fish is encompassed in breadcrumbs, chili oil, pesto, and other vegetable extracts. Around there are lion’s mane mushrooms and underneath, smooth corn cream to balance out the bold flavors with something simple yet just as enticing. The fish is cooked to perfection, flaky but never dry.
Onto the star of the show, the $72 steak: Prime Filet Mignon Bordelaise. This meat is far past exceptional. Again, the staff ensures that there are more than enough options, even when it comes to preparation. The steak is cooked perfectly based on however you request. Surrounded by a savory bordelaise sauce that remains hot for the duration of the meal. The sauce adds to the tenderness of the steak, flavoring it even more. On top lay the creamy, seared, blue cheese crumbles and crunchy potato frits. However, that isn’t all; accompanying the steak are cauliflower and potato bites to soak up the extra flavors left on your plate.
Overall, The Roosevelt Room never ceases to run out of options; variety is their greatest accomplishment. This menu is for all, with the level of knowledge among every staff member, you’re able to know every ingredient in your dish. Additionally, you can make any accommodations necessary to create your unique and perfect dining experience.
