Shenendehowa varsity hockey forward Jackson Vener suffered a fractured wrist during a game against Adirondack this past Friday. Despite the injury occurring halfway
through the match Shen still was able to keep up their winning record with a final score of 4-1.
As sectionals and states are around the corner this injury worries players on the team as it could potentially make a negative impact on their chances in winning the next few weeks.

Vener, who has been a valuable forward this season, will have to be sidelined while he recovers.
“I still think they’ll be able to win sectionals without me,” Vener said. “I will be back for states to secure our victory.”
Other players on the team have stepped up like freshman Alex Wojtowicz who will take Vener’s place until he returns. Wojtowicz has been moved up to the varsity roster for the remainder of the season.
“I am glad I am able to finish the season as a rostered player,” Wojtowicz said. “It’s an exciting opportunity to be able to play at the varsity level as a freshman, and I look forward to seeing the outcome of Friday night’s game, leading to the beginning of playoffs.”
Friday’s game is the last of the regular season. Team member say they are excited to be able to perform one last time in front of their fellow classmates.
“As a senior, it’s definitely more of an emotional game for me, said defensive player Joey de la Rocha, “but I feel so blessed to have had the season I’ve had, while being surrounded by my amazing teammates, and I can’t wait for Jackson to be healthy enough to have us all be able to play together again to close out the season.”
