We are living in a world where if you see something online you almost immediately buy it, especially teenagers that have jobs and extra money to spend.
Right now that online trend is an inexpensive fidget toy called a NeeDoh.
NeeDohs come in many different colors, shapes, sizes, and materials. You probably can’t walk through the halls of High School East, without seeing at least one student with a NeeDoh in hand.
Students say they are “super satisfying,” “some of the coolest things ever,” and that they even “free stress.”
“I love my Nee Doh so much, I literally can’t go anywhere without it,” said Senior Chloe Sisalima.
While you can order NeeDohs from Amazon or Target, half the fun of this new trend is what students call “NeeDoh hunting.”
Nee Doh hunting is a trend amongst teens, where you drive around to local stores to find specific or seasonal Nee Dohs.
“I LOVE Nee Dohs. They make me feel calm, and free my stress. It is also very joyful to collect them and go Nee Doh hunting,” said junior Tilly McNulty.
“NeeDohs are the best thing to exist. I love collecting as much as I can and going Nee Doh hunting with my friends,” said junior Lauren Johnson.
But with all the positives, there comes a negative.
NeeDohs pop.
Nola Maslowsky, a sophomore, said her NeeDoh popped in her bed and left a stain that wouldn’t wash out. Despite one of her collectibles popping, Maslowsky had a Nee Doh in her hand during the interview.
The toys are not expensive, around $5 at Target, which according to junior Skylar Stack, is a good thing because they can get air bubbles. Stack said that means he just buys more.
“Air bubbles are very inconvenient but it means you have to buy more. They’re so cheap,” he said.
