Shenendehowa High School’s 2025 Drama Club production of “The Play That Goes Wrong” has been highly anticipated by the club members for many years.
The Shen Drama Club has a large cast and crew that work through the fall to put on a show in the first few weeks of November. Every year, the set for each show is built from scratch by a team of students and adult mentors. Past productions have included “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Clue.”
Drama club members say they are excited to perform the new production for the public due to its many aspects that make it different from productions of the past.
Dorian Harding, a senior who plays Trevor in the show, said that his character’s role as a lighting and sound designer ties to his past experiences in drama and musical productions.
“It’s a lot of fun for me because not only am I an actor, but I also have experiences backstage because I stage managed the musical and in the summer, I work in a children’s theater and I got to operate lights for that,” Harding said.
Harding added that the show is “genuinely funny.”
“Every single moment actually makes me laugh, even during rehearsal,” Harding said.
Milo Modany, a senior in the props crew, said he enjoys the moving pieces in the set.
“There’s one piece where there’s a pillar and they knock it down and there’s a second floor that falls down,” Modany said.
He also noted its contrast to “The Diary of Anne Frank,” the previous year’s show.
“The Diary of Anne Frank is kind of very somber, so it’s definitely very different,” Modany said.
Aside from the acting and the set, Modany added that tech week, the “last week before shows where we have rehearsals until 9 p.m. every day” was a great opportunity to make friends.
“It’s definitely a chance to get really close to some people when you’re locked in High School West with a bunch of people for multiple hours every day,” he said.
Mr. Quinlan DeWan, a senior who is playing Robert, thinks that the camaraderie among cast members is the best part of rehearsal.
“I think we all have a great time together, but we’re all very respectful of each other and get our work done,” DeWan said.
