This weekend Shenendehowa will be holding their 75th Anniversary at High School East from 10am-3pm.The day will be full of history, performances, and community spirit. The event, which is spread across the building, is set to showcase Shen’s legacy while embracing alumni, staff, and current students who have shaped its journey.
The celebration kicks off with remarks from Shenendehowa officials who will offer reflections on Shen’s past and all of its milestones according to high school principal Ron Agostinoni. Historical exhibits will be on display in several areas, including the library showcasing past yearbooks, memorabilia, and student group contributions spanning decades.
It has taken a lot of time and effort to put on this celebration, Agostinoni says.
“We have been planning since last May or June,” he said.
There is a committee of about 25 people, administrators, board members, teachers, and community members, who are planning the event.
The main flashbacks focus on the history of the district, highschool, academics, and athletics. Athletic Director Lucas Labarre said the “Athletic Hall Of Fame” portion of the exhibit will entail posters, physical items, and an interactive board. The hope is to try to represent Shenendehowa successes throughout the years and look back on how far programs have grown, ranging from Suburban, Sectional, and State awards, Labarre said.
The target audience for this event is mainly alumni. There will be an alumni cheer and alumni choir performance by 90 alumni. But it’s not just alumni who will be attracted to the event, current students and families are more than welcome to join the fun. A food truck is planned along with a JV and Varsity baseball game that day.
