STEM and Health Discovery Night, an event held each spring at High School East, is a growing event that includes students and organizations.
This year’s event, held April 25, had numerous booths, from school clubs and organizations as well as outside organizations, that presented to hundreds of people throughout the night.
Many students were involved in the event helping to set up booths, clean up after the event and organize.
Jonah Hosley, a junior at Shenendehowa, volunteered at SHDN. He ran the laser cutter for the Maker Space club, where they made name tags for people at the event.
“It was very stressful, but it was fun,” said Hosley, “and the kids got in the way.”
Caleb Brown, a senior at Shenendehowa and Treasurer of Science National Honor Society, managed the booths run by SNHS and facilitated the student volunteers.
“People had a lot of fun, so it was a pretty positive experience,” said Brown, “everyone had pretty thorough and engaging exhibits.”
Mr. Roe, a teacher at Shen who teaches aerospace engineering, ran a booth in partnership with the Empire State Aerosciences Museum where they had flight simulators for people coming through.
“It seems to be growing bigger and bigger every year,” said Roe, “it’s a good outreach program for Shen.”
