The Boys Swim and Dive Team is feeling confident going into sectionals after coming off of an undefeated regular season.
As sectionals approach, the boys look to stay undefeated and advance to finals.
“Practices have been lighter this week, we’ve been tapering and stretching to try and prepare ourselves for prelims on Friday. Morale is high and everyone’s really excited going into this weekend,” said Captain, Cooper Simmons.
The sectionals line up is competitive as only four boys with the fastest times can qualify in each event. Throughout the season, all the boys have had to compete to the best of their ability to be able to swim at the meet.
Prelims consist of 30-50 swimmers for each event. The next day is finals where the top 16 finalists for each event will swim. In order to win sectionals your team must score the most points by their individual swimmers placing top ten in their event group.
Shen Swim and Dive has dominated Section 2, winning 8 section titles in a row. Jitters and excitement is high entering this weekend as the boys look to continue the streak and win for the ninth year.
“It’s important for everyone to stay focused and trust that our training has prepared us for this moment,” said Swimmer Conner Rudd.
The second place Saratoga team proves to be the biggest threat in the section. Saratoga’s only loss is credited to Shen Boys Swim and Dive and they look to have a rematch at sectionals. However, Shen remains confident in their ability to bring home another sectional title.
“Winning never gets old and I’m confident we can finish the year strong,” said Conner Rudd.
