Students at Shenendehowa High School have varying opinions on the country’s reelection of Donald Trump.
In some ways, Shenendehowa High School is just as divided as the greater nation.
Aanshi Desai, a senior at Shen, said that she was “not too happy with the results.”
“I think people need to do more studying on candidates before they go out to vote,” she said.
Desai said that she thinks everyone should go out and vote because “every vote matters.”
Josh Woodry, a junior at Shen said “I don’t like him as a leader, but I think he won fairly.”
Woodry said he doesn’t think Trump is a good person and doesn’t like how the president is irrational and says absurd things.
“I think that if you have a felony, you shouldn’t be able to run for president,” he said, “he should not be above the law.”
Another senior, Caleb Brown, was vocal about his disappointment in the election results. He was “pretty flabbergasted,” as he watched the night unfold in real time.
Brown said many of Trump’s voters have the wrong priorities, like the price of their morning coffee and not our damaged climate.
Nick Hadinyak, a senior, said as someone who is of Ukrainian nationality is excited because “Trump said that he can solve the war between Ukraine and Russia in 24 hours.”
“I have no clue who Kamala Harris is, except that she ran and that she’s a woman,” he said, “I believe that Trump is a bit better because I know more about him.”
Caleb Bregenzer, wore a Make America Great Again hat and said, “I feel great, man. You know, he deserved it.”
“People don’t see that his first term went great, people just want something new, but they don’t understand that the new is not gonna be great,” he said, “So, Trump winning is good. It’s a good sign.”
Bregenzer said he liked Trump’s immigration policy because immigrants are “taking all of our jobs and Kamala didn’t really do anything.”
