Drama Club’s production of The Diary of Anne Frank, performs at the end of this month. The show is double cast offering what members say is opportunities for more students to hone their craft
The double cast system means there are two sets casts rather than just understudies according to Madison McErlean, a member of the costume crew
“It’s really cool to have and gives a lot more opportunities for people to have a role,” she said.
According to McErlean, it might be a little bit of a setback in everyone getting time to rehearse, but “they’re working really well with it,” she said.
Ashley Taylor, a lights co-manager, said that she liked the idea of the double cast.
“It gives more people opportunities, and everyone is fit for their role,” she said.
Stage manager Katherine Yevzerov shared a list of the cast members, and said that the double cast system was used to include more people since it’s a small cast of characters, with many people as members on crew.
Anne Frank are both freshmen, Reese Bernardi and Georgia DeMarco.
For some of the other characters, Quin Dewan and Vivek Venkat play Otto Frank, Edith Frank is played by Maja Bjork and Evelyn Fuller, and Molly Hurley and Ella Montayne play Margot Frank.
Lily Kelsey, a member of the costumes crew, said that they had auditions the first day of school, and that the list came out the next week.
“I think Mr. Lotano did a great job at casting newer people, who get some experience, and older people, who get to spend their last year with roles they like,” Kelsey said.
“Everyone is doing really well in what their roles are,” she said.
The Diary of Anne Frank will run Oct. 25 at 7 p.m., Oct 26 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
