HEADLINE: Team Bonding Helps Swimmers Succeed.
Five meets and five wins. The Shenendehowa Girls Varsity Swim and Dive team is feeling confident about the start of their season.
Swimmers say they have worked hard to create a stress and drama free environment which is key to their success, according to senior swimmer Anna Stoup.
In previous years, the team was filled with a lot of drama that needed to be talked out in order to continue their achievements, Stoup said.
When asked if there has been any drama this season Anna Stoup said, “So far no, and hopefully it stays that way.”
In order to strengthen the relationships between their team Stoup said they host pasta parties.
The team also has an annual barbeque to kick off the season.
Team manager and boys senior swimmer Conner Rudd said the boys team has similar team bonding activities.
The boys swim and dive team, as opposed to a barbeque because the weather is getting cooler, have a picnic at the park.
“We all push each other to try really hard in practice,” says senior boys swimmer Will McCoy.
It is the seniors job to make sure that the underclassmen feel included and comfortable on the team, Stoup said .
“I just make sure everyone is included with everything and I talk to everyone and make sure everyones talking to each other and that nobody is talking behind anyone’s back,” she said.
They have the following activities lined up for the future: pumpkin carving, movie nights, barbeque and more pasta parties.
