The season is over for Shen hockey.
Boys lost Saturday to Messina 5-1 in their first Regional game after winning the Section II Championship.
While practicing for the Regional game players said they had high hopes for a win and felt calm.
“I was super excited at the beginning, which is different. Usually I’m really tense.” said senior forward Jeremy Rice.
During the game a serious fight broke out that players say affected their playing.
“It was pretty scary to watch,” Rice said.
Players said that preparing for regionals took a lot of strength,
“We have short intense practices, focused on not doing too much to tire out the legs, but still working hard.” said senior Captain and starting defenseman Steven Anslow.
Prior to the game Anslow said he was feeling good and prepared for the game.
“It’s gonna be a battle,” he said
Senior center Keegan Linn, also said he was prepared for the regional game and said the team was working well together.
“There has been no tension in the locker rooms or with coaches, it’s been all good vibes,” Linn said prior to the game.
Rice said he was upset about the loss, but also proud of his teammates.
“I’m really bummed about the team losing, but I try to take things day by day, and in the end we are all still best friends,” he said.
