Shenendehowa came out with a big loss, last Sunday at HVCC against the biggest rival CBA, ending the 2024 basketball season. In the quarter finals, Shen was up the majority of the game, but couldn’t pull through with a victory. With three seconds left, the Brothers scored, leaving a final score of 52-50.
Devastated, Shen went home knowing that their season is over, and won’t advance to sectionals, a goal in mind for the boys.
“It felt horrible losing to CBA in a rough situation that we should have never had ourselves in,” said Junior, Sam Borelli, who plays point guard.
Shen beat CBA in February and team members said they expected to win again.
“We came into our sectional game against them feeling very prepared, and we in fact were prepared. It’s even more tough that we lost,” said Senior Miles Peterson #23, who plays power forward and small forward.
The boys ended the season 11-10. “We could have bodied together more instead of critiquing each other. We weren’t positive after losing a game whereas we could have just focused on improving for the next,” said Noah Renzi #21, who also plays power forward and small forward
Borelli also said that the team struggled with offense.
“As a team we could have ran a better offense. We averaged one of the lowest points per game in the area,” he said.
Regardless, the boys said they had some high points in the season, and the bonds they created will last a lifetime.
“My favorite part of the season was being able to spend everyday with the guys in practice. The guys on the team became my best friends so being able to spend everyday with them was definitely my favorite,” Peterson said.
