The Shenendehowa Plainsmen, the top seed in the Section II going into the playoffs, beat fourth seeded Ballston Spa Scotties Friday night to advance to the Section final.
The Plainsmen proceeded to go 8-0 throughout the regular season to get the top seed in the Class AA playoffs.
The Plainsmen previously played the Scotties Sept. 22 and beat them 59-20. The Plainsmen left it all on the field Friday night by defeating the Scotties 56-12 in the semifinal.
Senior quarterback Michael Whatley threw four touchdown passes including two passes to Blake Mello and Ihsaan Alozie. Junior Ihsaan Alozie ran an eleven yard touchdown to get the Plainsmen on the board in the first quarter.
Senior Blake Mello snuck into the end zone with a one yard rushing touchdown, to open the second quarter.
Whatley later on threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter. Aloize caught a forty-two yard pass to have the Plainsmen up 14-0. Meanwhile, junior Thomas Fankhanel caught a sixty-six yard touchdown pass and Mello caught a thirty-eight yard touchdown pass from Whatley.
The Plainsmen jumped out in the first half leading to a 35-6 halftime score.
The Plainsmen continued to dominate the second half with three more touchdowns. Including a forty-nine yard touchdown pass to Mello from Whatley, a sixty yard rushing touchdown from Dylan Maye and twenty-one yard rushing touchdown from Caleb Brown.
Friday, Shenendehowa takes on Christian Brothers Academy at Troy High School to play in the Superbowl for the Section II Class AA finals. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online.
